About the Sustainable Garden Initiative:
The Franklin Sustainable Garden Initiative is one of several projects introduced by CSI Franklin in 2010. A collaboration of students and faculty is currently drafting a formal proposal for a multi-phase organic garden project with aims to expand on a yearly basis. The ultimate goals of this project are: (1) to reduce Franklin’s ecological footprint through providing a local and organic food source for campus dining services.
(2) to provide a tangible, telluric classroom for environmental science and food related courses.
(3) to increase community awareness of the importance of sustainable agricultural networks and their relationship to the environment.
